Let’s do cooperative marketing in Valve’s channels!

If you’re about to organize an event at Valve or in cooperation with us, please read through the instructions on this page.

Please remember to use our logo on the marketing materials of the cooperative event.

If your event requires ticket sales, please contact Valve’s Ticket Office well in advance (two weeks prior the latest) before publishing the event page. Ticket sales must always be agreed on, event specific. Once the ticket sales deal has been agreed on, you will recieve a ticket sale link which can be added on your event information.

NB: Please inform your contact person about any possible changes.

Primary Channels: Event Calendar, Info Screens and Social Media

Please register your event’s information on the event calendar always, and well in advance (instructions below). The event calendar will provide us the necessary information about the event, which allows us to take it into consideration on our weekly social media round-up as well as in other communication. Valve website uses the feed and information added to Oulu Event Calendar. Through Oulu Event Calendar your event will also be visible for example on newspaper Kaleva’s event calendar online.

The European Capital of Culture year 2026 and its official culture programme has a separate Oulu2026 Event Calendar. If your event is a part of the official Oulu2026 culture programme, please add its information to Oulu2026 Event Calendar (link for the instructions below).

Event Calendar on Valve’s Website

For events happening in 2026, when your event is not a part of the official Oulu2026 culture programme.

You can find the event calendar from our front page kulttuurivalve.fi/en. Calendar’s information gets picked up from the events added to Oulu Event Calendar. First you must register as the page’s user, and then follow the instructions provided.

Please note the following, when adding event information in the calendar:

  • Due to accessibility reasons, the cover image used for event marketing should not have any text or logos.
  • Name your event in the following form: Performers/organisers/creators name: EVENT NAME
  • Please use clear and understandable standard language in your event’s description – remember to describe the nature of the event or art form in question as well as the venue where the event will take place.
  • Please also note the Finnish translation. Oulu Event Calendar will automatically translate the texts, but it is best to go through the translation and rephrase it if necessary.
  • In the section “Where do you want your page to be displayed?”: Pick the subject tags that best describe your event. The tag that you click first, will be visible in the calendar’s search results list (other tags will be hidden). For this reason, pick the most descriptive and related tag first.
    1.  In the “events” section: Pick a tag(s) that best describe the nature of your event.
    2.  (In the sections ”event organizers” and ”what’s on”: Pick tags if they are related to your event.)
    3.  NB! In the section ”additional topics”: Remember to pick either Valve events (if your event happens at Valve) or Valveen kaupunginosatapahtumat (Urban Neighbourhood Culture’s cooperation elsewhere in Oulu).
    4.  If your event is a part of the Art goes Afterwork programme, also pick Art goes Afterwork tag.

By picking the Valve tags, your event information will show on Valve website’s calendar feed, and we will be able to take it into account in cooperative communication.

  • In the section “additional information”: Pick a tag if your event is accessible, free of charge, and/or Kaikukorttikohde. You can visit our accessibility page to check whether your event space at Valve is accessible or not. If necessary, add a more detailed information of the space’s accessibility in the event description text.
  • In the section “event locations” you can add the address in a form which specifies the exact event location or space:
    1. Click “add address” and write f.e. Cultural Centre Valve in the address bar of the popup window, then proceed to pick the address from the list. The popup window will then show a map, marking the location you picked.
    2. Scroll down on the popup window to find a “display address in format” section below the map. Add the specific event location before the address, for example: Restaurant Valveen Paljetti, Cultural Centre Valve, Hallituskatu 7, 90100 Oulu.
    3. The event location can be edited after the event has been published. On your event page, next to the event name click “Enable edit mode” → Manage page → Locations → Display address in format.
