Inventing Artist Group: Hän on [AlyÆŋ]

For the second time, the Inventing Artist Group presents the exhibition Hän on [AlyÆŋ] at Cultural Centre Valve (Hallituskatu 7), from October 3 to November 10, 2024. The exhibition is free to the public.

In this unique art project, eight individuals from Oulu have spent four weeks collaboratively creating the work of an imagined artist, a photographer who does not exist—yet could, and perhaps should. Together, they have invented and brought to life the artist’s photography through their own creative expressions. The exhibition offers the public a chance to experience the creations of this fictional artist for the very first time.

During the opening event, visitors will be able to meet the creators, learn about the group’s collaborative process, and enjoy a live music performance inspired by the journey of the invented artist. This will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with Oulu’s creative community. Coffee will be provided.

The Inventing Artist community art project has been realized in collaboration with Valve’s Urban Neighborhood Culture initiative, deufert&plischke, D-asema, Photo North – Northern Photographic Centre, and Goethe-Institut Finland. The project reflects on the boundaries of authorship and identity in art, playfully blurring the line between reality and invention.
